Twinsburg teen Emyrson Flora continues to shine on American Idol

Canton McKinley graduate Kierstan Bell gets drafted into the WNBA

We’re serving up smiles over here this week.

CLEVELAND — We’re celebrating smiles over here this week and are so glad you’ve joined us. We hope you’re looking forward to the warming temperatures this weekend like we are. If that’s not enough to make you smile, we’ve got you covered.

First up on the show this week, our Win of the Week! Stephanie’s win is the IX Center Ferris Wheel’s big move. We learned a few months ago it’s not staying at the convention center, and more recently learned it’s new home: the Canton Football Hall of Fame Village! It’s especially exciting for Stephanie, a Canton native, who grew up going to the Hall of Fame ceremony weekend celebrations as a kid.

Our viewer wins of the week goes to Canton McKinley graduate Kierstan Bell! The 2019 grad was the first ever student in Stark County to be a first round draft pick in the WBNA. She was selected as an 11th round pick by the Las Vegas Aces.

While attending Canton McKinley, Kierstan was Ohio’s only three-time Ms. Basketball. She broke Stark County’s career scoring record as well as many other records in her four years as a bulldog. She began her college career at Ohio State, then transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University. And her future is looking bright!

In our Good Vibes Only segment, we’re sending them to Twinsburg teen Emyrson Flora. We told you about her when she advanced to the Top 24 in American Idol. Now, she’s hit the Top 14! Emyrson only began singing at age 10, but clearly she’s a natural. She competes again Sunday night.

YOU GUYS. I feel more grateful than any of you even know. wow. Thank you for the ongoing love and support. My heart is so full.❤️ #americanidol #idol #emyrsononidol

Lastly, we want you to meet a couple who we found on social media. Lakewood City Schools was running a social media campaign shouting out the teachers in their district who are actually married! We caught up with one of them.

Since February is the month we celebrate ❤️, we thought it would be fun to highlight some of our staff members who met…

Jennifer and Mark Mollison’s love story is pretty adorable. Jennifer was teaching third grade and Mark was student teaching in fifth grade at Garfield Elementary- so they really did fall in love on the job. Jen was the first to ask about a first date- but check out why Mark knew she was a bit nervous right away.

“She was getting ready to leave and I offered to walk her out to her car. On the way to the car, she started realizing she didn’t have her keys with her. And as we got closer to the car, I looked at her and I said I think your engine’s running,” Mark laughs. “And as we got closer yet, to the car we heard music playing and she was a bit nervous and she had left her keys in the car with the engine running.”

“And it was running for a few hours,” Jennifer admits.

Their first date was at the iconic Lakewood bar “Around the Corner.” Mark proposed atop a lighthouse Jen’s family had been restoring in Long Island, NY. They’re be celebrating 23 years of wedded bliss in July.
